The Greenwave track and field team competed at the North Valleys Relays, which also included field events, last week.
Four relay teams placed in the top four and several individuals also placed in the field events as Fallon is off this week for spring break. The Greenwave will return to the track next weekend at South Tahoe.
Senior McCartney McAlexander won the shot put to lead the Lady Wave, while senior Luke Sorensen’s third-place finish in the pole vault paced the boys team.
McAlexander won the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 7 inches, and took second in the high jump with a leap of 4-11. She also finished fifth in the long jump at 15-5, followed by sophomore Jessalyn Lewis in seventh with a jump of 14-10. Lewis led Fallon in the triple jump with a fifth-place finish of 29-1, followed by sophomore Zoey Jarrett in seventh at 28.5.
Senior Britney McArthur finished 10th in the shot put at 26-10.5.
Two girls relay teams — 4x400 and 4x100 — placed sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 4 minutes, 35 seconds, and 54.50. The 4x400 team included Rachel Mori, Zoey Brown, Jarrett and McAlexander. The 4x100 team included Brienna McArthur, Mori, Jarrett and Lewis.
For the boys, Sorensen vaulted 11 feet to take home the bronze; the top mark was 13-3. Sophomore Kanigh Snyder added a pair of top-10 finishes after taking sixth in the triple jump with a personal-best of 39-1. He finished 10th in the discus at 111-10.
The 4x110 shuttle hurdles and 4x200 relay teams finished second and sixth, respectively, in 1:19.98 and 1:37.23. The hurdle team included Blake Lee, Tristan Hill, Ethan Tarner and James Sorensen, and the 4x200 team included Caleb Proffen, Max McCoy and both Luke and James Sorensen.
