The Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe’s Earth Day activities began Monday and will culminate with the annual Earth Day celebration at Oats Park on Friday from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
The annual Earth Day event brings awareness to protecting the environment. Earth Day was cancelled the past two years because of coronavirus pandemic protocols.
Music will be provided at Oats Park by the River Rogue band. The Pyramid Lake High School Pudu Nagudu Dancers, along with the Young Chief Drum Group, will also appear during the day.
Booths will feature nature games, activities, local artists and crafters fair, food, raffles and family fun.
The Emergency Management open house is slated for 10 a.m. on Thursday followed by an open house from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The new Emergency Management facility is located at 8942 Mission Road.
Later that day is movie night at Fox Peak Cinema beginning at 6 p.m. The film is Pow Wow Highway. Pick up your free movie pass wristband at FPST Environmental Department, at 1011 Rio Vista Drive or the Tribal Administration Building, 565 Rio Vista Drive.
Passes will be available 15 minutes before show time at Fox Peak Cinema.
The Fallon Rotarians at Work Day is Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
With the support of the city of Fallon and the local Cub Scouts, members from the Fallon Rotary Club are planning to pressure wash and paint the gazebo at Laura Mills Park and also pressure wash and clean up the stone podium at Oats Park.
The 20th annual Keep Fallon Green City Cleanup is Monday through Friday (April 29).
If residents have unwanted items, they should place them in their garbage pickup area next week.
If residents have heavy, unmanageable items or issues that require special consideration, they should contact City Hall at 775-423-3040.
