The second year of roadwork on Nevada Routes 431 and 28 begins May 2. The project will enhance the roads near Incline Village.
Drivers can expect single lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until May 13.
State Route 28 will have single lane closures from Crystal Bay to Sand Harbor State Park and on Mount Rose Highway from the summit to the State Route 28 roundabout.
Beginning May 15, there will be single lane closures from 8 p.m. Sundays through noon Friday through October.
An NDOT spokesman said through the entire construction period, commercial trucks with air brakes will be prohibited between the Mount Rose Ski Resort and Incline Village. But trucks will be allowed to travel eastbound to Reno outside the construction zone.
The roadwork improvements include intelligent traffic systems conduit lines, reconstruction of slopes, drainage and guardrail improvements to enhance safety, sidewalks and sidewalk ramps and reinforcement of an aging timber retaining wall north of Memorial Point lookout.
Eight miles of state Route 431 will be repaved and three miles of concrete barrier rail installed.
