Nevada’s environmental protection division has received $900,000 in grant funding for projects to prevent or control water pollution.
The EPA grants are aimed at pollution from non-point sources that are described as a leading cause of water quality deterioration. The Clean Water Act grants are open to public and tribal governments, nonprofit groups and educational institutions across the state.
Officials say a cash or in-kind match of at least 50 percent of the project total cost is required to qualify.
Potential projects include water quality improvement, best management practices, public education programs to reduce non-point pollution sources and projects from an approved watershed plan.
A spokesman said the deadline for applying is Sept. 23 at 5 p.m.
