Faith & Insight: Take out the trash!

You may have noticed an old bald-headed man with two little leashed dogs walking around North Carson City filling garbage bags. Drive carefully, it’s me! I find it hard to believe all the things that are dumped onto the streets of our fair city! Don’t people know how to take out the trash?
Around year 64 A.D. the Apostle Paul wrote a letter to new Christians in the city of Colossae in what is now Turkey. Since they had been baptized into Christ, he encourages them to put off the old things like immorality, greed, anger, malice, abusive speech and lying. Jesus would help them take that trash out of their lives!
Since they were now dedicated to the Lord, they should replace that trash with compassion, kindness, gentleness, patience and forgiveness. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.” Colossians 3:14-15
Well, not only have they put out the trash, they have also put on a new wardrobe!
“(You) have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the one who created him.” Colossians 3:10
Because of Jesus, life can be much better when the trash is gone.
Churches in Carson City are here to help. We’d love to see you soon.
