Carson High cross country got its first race of the 2022 season under its belt over the weekend at the Douglas Class Races, held at Lampe Park.
Samuel Davis was the quickest runner for the Senator seniors, finishing in 23rd in 16:48.
Anton Torres-Cruz posted an 18:46 in the juniors race to take 36th.
It was the Carson freshmen and sophomores that were extremely impressive as Sean Thornton was third in the frosh race.
Thornton finished in 15:53 for the Senators while Mark Walther was eighth in 17:50.
Sawyer Macy took third in the sophomore race with a time of 14:34 while teammates Tristan Rutledge was seventh in 16:08.
On the girls side, the Senators had five freshmen finish inside of the top 10.
Hannah Budd and Talia Clickenbeard led the way with second and third place finishes, respectively, followed closely by teammates Vea Miner, Brianna Rodriguez-Nunez and Madison Hager.
Ella Dooley was seventh in the junior race while Sydney Romero led the Senators in the senior race with a 19th place finish.
Jinnie Ponczoch took seventh among the sophomores in 19:16 while Eleanor Romero was 10th.

Dayton, Sierra Lutheran cross country runs at Douglas class races
The underclassmen were well represented for both Dayton and Sierra Lutheran cross country teams in their first official race of the season Friday.
Sierra Lutheran sophomore Max Woelfel took 13th for the Falcons in 17:24 while Chandler Ricks was 22nd in 18:25.
Dayton’s Carlos Ballesteros crossed the line in 18:47 to take 25th for the Dust Devils.
At the boys’ freshman level, Mason Burns was seventh for Dayton in 17:50.
Tanner Logan was just off Burns’ pace with a 13th place finish in 19:06 for the Dust Devils.
On the girls’ side, Saige Gregory was the lone representative, finishing in 11th in 19:23.
"We are off to a good start. We have work to do but I am excited to see what these runners will do in the future," said Sierra Lutheran head coach Robin Williams.
