The Lady Wave volleyball team finished 4-2 in last weekend’s two-day Yerington Tournament, defeating a pair of 3A teams as it began crossover league play on Monday.

Fallon swept Virginia City, 25-19 and 25-15, on Friday before taking down Sierra Lutheran, 25-20 and 25-14. Fallon, though, lost to 2A powerhouse and tournament host Yerington, 12-25, 25-23 and 10-15. Fallon opened Saturday’s action with a loss to Mammoth, 23-25, 25-21 and 7-15, before winning two in a row to end the tournament. Fallon defeated 3A schools Virgin Valley, 25-18, 19-25 and 15-9, and Spring Creek, 25-20, 19-25 and 17-15.


In the Sierra Lutheran win, Kiley Wallace led Fallon in kills with six to go with six digs, and Jaqui Medrano added five kills. Zowie Anderson led in assists with 11 and Bailey Stritenberger had a team-best 13 digs. Nita Fillmore added five digs.


In the Yerington loss, Wallace led in kills with nine and added seven digs, while Fillmore finished with nine assists and Anderson had eight. Stritenberger had 16 digs and Anderson also had a block.


Wallace continued to lead Fallon at the net with six kills in Saturday’s Mammoth loss. Medrano finished with five kills and six digs, while Anderson and Fillmore each had 10 assists. Stritenberger led in digs with 12. Anderson added four kills and Wallace had four digs.


Against Virgin Valley, Wallace came close to a double-double, finishing with eight kills and nine digs. Anderson and Fillmore each had 15 assists. Stritenberger finished with 18 digs, Medrano had six and Reece Hutchings added five. Wallace, Medrano, Hutchings and Keliah Brady each had a block. Hutchings led the team with three aces.


Medrano led Fallon with a double-double (11 kills and 10 digs) in the Spring Creek win, while Anderson and Fillmore each had 15 assists. Wallace finished with nine digs and six kills. Stritenberger had 17 digs.
