Dream Christmas event returns for its eighth holiday

The Northern Nevada Dream Center, a Carson City-based nonprofit, is holding its eighth annual Dream Christmas event, a mobile caravan of holiday joy and goodies for individuals and families in need.

Dream Center volunteers will be delivering Dream Christmas dinner bags, turkeys, hams, coats, hats, gloves and other holiday goodies to locations throughout Northern Nevada, beginning Saturday, Dec. 3. This year’s Dream Christmas sites include:

• Dec. 3, 11 a.m., University Heights Apartments (Carson City)

• Dec. 10, 11 a.m., Wink’s Silver Strike Lanes (Gardnerville)

• Dec. 10, noon, Parkway Plaza Apartments (Carson City)

• Dec. 12, 2:30 p.m., Empire Elementary School (Carson City)

• Dec. 16, 1-3 p.m., Northern Nevada Dream Center (Carson City)

• Dec. 17, 10 a.m., Highlands at Vista Apartments (Indian Hills)

• Dec. 17, 11 a.m., Foothill Garden Apartments (Carson City)

In addition to the delivery of Dream Christmas dinners, the second annual Dream Christmas Toy Drive is ongoing. Donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages 1-18 can be donated at the following locations through Dec. 19. (Families with children can sign up to receive toys at nndreamcenter.org/toysignup).

“Dream Christmas is one of our largest and most exciting events of the year,” said NNDC director Susan Sorenson. “We love everyone we serve and making Christmas a dream for so many is such a fun way to help our friends and neighbors.”

Individuals, churches, businesses and service organizations throughout the area have helped to fill more than 800 Dream Christmas dinner bags this year. Dream Christmas bags are still available to fill by calling 775-443-4090, or families can be sponsored online at nndreamcenter.org/dream-christmas.

Groups such as Guild Mortgage, James Gaskets, Lifepoint Church, Greater Nevada Credit Union, Continuum Packing Solutions, Carson Valley Bible Church, Carson City Garden Club, The Well, Connected NAZ, Winks Silver Strike Lanes, Nevada Farmer Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers, the First Presbyterian Church, a Finer Image Salon and First Christian Church are just a few who are supporting Dream Christmas in 2022.

The Northern Nevada Dream Center is a faith-based organization bringing hope and relief to our community by providing food, clothing, toiletries, household items and other necessities to our neighbors in need. Most programs are mobile, reaching those isolated by economic and physical limitations. Additionally, the Dream Center offers a free job-readiness program, life-recovery resources and meetings while partnering with various agencies throughout Nevada.
