Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says he has been advised there will be no 911 emergency service Monday night.

He said a text from Spectrum maintenance said the service will be unavailable Monday and Tuesday between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.

But Furlong said 911 operators will be on duty in Carson City if the public needs to call for help. He said the public should either use a cell phone or, if a cell is not available, call 775-887-COPS, 775-887-FIRE or 775-887-2008 which is the Carson dispatch direct line.

“The citywide 911 center is staffed for just this type of interruption and a 911 operator will answer the phone,” Furlong said.

He said he was given practically no warning this was happening but that 911 operators will be on duty through the outage.
