Through the end of November, a total of 321 people have died on Nevada roads and highways.
That is a dozen fewer than at the same point in 2021.
Carson City, however, had suffered one more death than the year before, a total of seven. The number of unrestrained drivers and passengers on the list increased from one a year ago to four through 11 months this year.
According to the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, the vast majority of deaths happened in crashes in Clark County. The total of 222 fatalities is eight more than in the same period last year.
The next largest number of fatalities is in Nevada’s next most populous county, Washoe, which reported 40 deaths, the same number as in 2021. But the number of deaths by unrestrained drivers and passengers increased from six to eight people.
In Carson City, two pedestrians have died this year. That is the same as in 2021. The capital also suffered the death of one motorcyclist. There were no motorcyclist deaths through 11 months of the year in 2021.
Statewide, 76 pedestrians have died this year, one fewer than last year. Among pedestrian deaths, Clark County reported 62 compared to 60 last year. But Washoe reported just eight pedestrian deaths compared to nine last year.
A total of 77 motorcyclists have died in Nevada, also one fewer than a year ago.
But the number of bicyclists killed this year jumped sharply from seven to 13.
