The Oasis Academy boys basketball team split a pair of games last week, winning its home opener Dec. 5.
The Bighorns defeated enCompass Academy, 56-35, at the city-county gym but fell to Silver Stage, 51-42, on Saturday.
Three players scored in double figures with freshman Trevor Barrencha leading the team with 11 points, and freshman Matthew Bird and senior Casamaro White each adding 10. Senior Aaron Housel scored nine points. Barrenchea and Housel each hit three 3-points and White had two.
Sophomore Fenn Mackedon led in rebounds with 11 and White had nine to go with a team-high five assists. Bird contributed six of the team’s 13 steals.
The Bighorns dug themselves into an early hole against Silver Stage.
The Nighthawks extended a three-point first-quarter lead into double digits, 27-17, at halftime. Oasis Academy, down by 13 entering the final frame, tried to come back with 14 points.
Bird led the team with 15 points and Mackedon had eight along with a team-high 11 rebounds. AlexZandar Sheldon-Davis finished with seven rebounds, Bird had two assists and freshman Benton Snow added four steals.
The Lady Bighorns defeated enCompass, 37-12, but lost to Silver Stage, 31-18.
In the win Dec. 5, Dahlila Creer led the team with 10 points and Grace Laca scored seven. Taylynn Maynez scored six points, Saray Hernandez and Izzy Hockenberry-Grimes each had four, and Sanai Barnes and Sierra Williams added three apiece.
Maynez scored five points in the Silver Stage loss, Creer had four and Laca added one.
