More than 14,500 Nevada state employees will be reimbursed for furloughs taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, the state’s Interim Finance Committee approved Thursday.
Lawmakers unanimously voted nearly $36 million in back pay for more than 14,800 state workers. The state workers were mandated to take 48 hours of furloughs during the earliest months of the pandemic.
Gov. Steve Sisolak had pushed for the reimbursements.
The money will be paid out of the funds the state received from the federal American Rescue Plan.
