A reported domestic battery on Tuesday evening resulted in the Douglas County Special Weapons and Tactics Team responding to a home on Wagon Drive in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Deputies responded to the 7-Eleven on Tillman Lane after a woman reported being beaten by 35-year-old Michael Jacobsen.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the woman said Jacobsen banged her head against a desk, kicked her in the ribs and held a knife to her throat, telling her that she called authorities he would kill her.

Deputies responded to Jacobsen’s home in the 700 block of Wagon Drive and asked him to come out.

After he refused, deputies obtained search and arrest warrants for Jacobsen, who has an extensive violent criminal history. Because of that and the serious injuries suffered by the woman, the SWAT team was activated and established a perimeter.

After trying to get Jacobsen to surrender, the team gave one final warning and tear gassed the home. When Jacobsen still didn’t come out they breached the door and released a K-9 into the house. After not finding Jacobsen, deputies entered the house and found Jacobsen in a crawl space.

He was booked for domestic battery, assault with a deadly weapon, felony coercion and obstructing. His bail was set at $25,000.

He is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court on Thursday morning.

According to the Nevada Department of Corrections, Jacobsen was paroled in May 2020 after receiving a 2-5-ydear sentence in Carson City for burglary. He has also done prison stretches for domestic battery by strangulation, robbery, attempted theft and grand larceny, according to state records.
