Carson City Supervisor Stacey Giomi announced his reelection campaign Thursday. In an interview with the Appeal, he said he’s running for the same reason he ran four years ago: he feels deeply connected to Carson City.
“We’re very lucky in Carson that we have that sense of community regardless of how big we get,” he said. “Eagle Valley is sort of our valley.”
Giomi worked with the city’s fire department for over 30 years and was fire chief from 2005 to 2015. Currently, alongside his role on the Board of Supervisors, he serves as the director of Facilities Security & Emergency Preparedness for Nevada Health Centers in Carson City. He also volunteers on the board of directors for Advocates to End Domestic Violence and the Rural Counties RSVP Program.
He took the reigns as Ward 1 supervisor in 2019 and has helped direct the city through the pandemic.
“I think I’m proud in general of the accomplishments that we were able to continue city services and care for our residents,” Giomi said.
He listed some of the city successes that he helped accomplish as a supervisor: increasing public safety resources, finishing the South Carson Street infrastructure improvements, and completing a comprehensive water study.
He said that if he is reelected, he hopes to continue to work on the city’s Master Plan, increase the ending fund balance, promote public safety, fund first responders, and push forward on the city’s deferred maintenance.
“I would hope (voters are) looking for someone who has the integrity to do the job with the thought of serving all of the citizens,” Giomi said.
