The Oasis Academy boys and girls basketball teams ended the regular season with losses to Sage Ridge on Friday and Pyramid Lake on Saturday. The boys team suffered from a slow start in Friday’s home finale against Sage Ridge when the Scorpions outscored the Bighorns 44-14 in the first half. Sage Ridge, the 1A West’s top team going into this week’s regional tournament, cruised to a 65-31 win. In Saturday’s 47-32 road loss to the league’s No. 2 team, Oasis Academy jumped to a 9-0 lead after a trio of 3-pointers before the Lakers came back to tie the game, 18-18, at halftime. Pyramid Lake outscored the visitors by nine in the third quarter before scoring 17 points in the final quarter to take the 15-point win. Oasis Academy ended the season with a 9-13 record, including 1-7 in the 1A West.

Three Lady Bighorns scored in Friday’s 50-19 loss to Sage Ridge. Freshman Taylynn Maynez led the team with eight points, senior Jaylee McEwen scored seven and junior Tylie Norcutt added four. Maynez and McEwen each had one 3-pointer. In a 65-12 loss to Pyramid Lake, a school that has defeated several 3A and 5A teams, Oasis Academy couldn’t get on the board until the second quarter. The Bighorns trailed 38-4 at halftime but scored eight points in the second half. McEwen led the team in scoring with eight points, and Maynez and Norcutt each had two. The Lady Bighorns finished the season with a 5-12 record, including 2-7 in the 1A West.
