Storey County Sheriff Gerald Antinoro said last week that he will not seek a fourth term as sheriff.
"I love the people of Storey County, but the time has come to pursue other interests,” he said in a press release.
Antinoro has been in law enforcement since 1984, Storey County since 2006, and has served as sheriff for nearly 12 years.
Tony Dasen, Storey County Sheriff's Office chief deputy, said he will seek the seat.
Dasen is a U.S. Air Force veteran. He has been in law enforcement since 1989, having started with the Nevada Highway Patrol. Dasen came to Storey County in 2005 and has served in patrol, investigations, detention, and for the past six years has been Antinoro' s second-in-command.
"Tony Dasen has my complete confidence and support. I believe he is the best-suited person to manage the sheriff's office in the interest of the great people of Storey County,” Antinoro said.
