A Carson High student arrested Wednesday for bringing a gun to school pointed the weapon at others, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office said in an email Thursday morning.
The 14-year-old male, who was not identified in the email, was quickly disarmed and taken into custody, the statement said. An investigation revealed the student had pointed the firearm at others; however, the gun was never discharged.
The parents of the minor have fully cooperated with this investigation, CCSO said.
School resource officers with the CCSO assigned to Carson High were notified around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday of a student on campus with a firearm.
The student was arrested by SROs and turned over to Carson City Juvenile Services pending charges of: Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (minor); Possession of a Dangerous Weapon on School Grounds; and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
“There was every indication that the student acted alone, and this was an isolated incident,” the statement said. “No students or staff were physically injured.”
