Grant will provide broadband in Elko County

The federal Commerce Department has awarded $7.3 million to expand broadband service in Elko.
Sen. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., said the money will expand broadband to 5,568 households, 169 businesses and 21 anchor institutions in the Spring Creek area outside the City of Elko. She said currently, more than 120,000 Nevadans live in areas where there is no broadband Internet infrastructure.
Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said the grant will help, “close the digital divide in Nevada.”
