The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection has received $8 million in Volkswagen settlement grants to replace diesel-powered vehicles and equipment with low and zero-emission alternatives.
NDEP Administrator Greg Lovato said the grants are available to freight and delivery trucks, school buses and transit buses in the public and private sectors.
Lovato said the division is looking forward to funding projects that improve Nevada’s climate and air quality.
Nevada was awarded $25 million in VW settlement funding in 2017 after the company was found guilty of cheating on emissions tests.
Those interested in grants can apply through the end of January at NevadaDEMF@ndep.nv.gov.
