The Nevada Department of Transportation board Monday approved a series of contracts that will support an estimated 517 jobs in the coming year.
An NDOT spokesman said that includes emergency drainage pipe repairs on the Mount Rose Highway — a project set to begin Tuesday.
The other project is resurfacing 27 miles of U.S. 95 near the Amargosa Valley in Nye County.
Meg Ragonese of NDOT said experts estimate that every $1 invested in public transportation projects generates anywhere from $2 to $6 in local economic activity.
