Gov. Steve Sisolak is urging Nevada’s nursing students to consider joining the Nursing Apprentice Program.
He said there are almost 900 nursing students enrolled in accredited nursing programs in Nevada and nearly 100 nursing positions open across the state.
He said apprenticeships could greatly help fill staffing vacancies in Nevada’s healthcare facilities. He said the apprentice program helps students maximize the skills they have learned and get hands-on experience in nursing while helping to support Nevada’s healthcare system.
Shortages of trained staff have plagued healthcare facilities throughout the pandemic.
Just this week, he said Battle Born Medical Corps has received more than 200 applications from licensed individuals interested in the program.
He said those interested can visit https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/battle-born-medical-corps/.
