A suspect fled the Plumas Bank in the 1100 block of North Carson Street with an undisclosed amount of money after a bank robbery.
Carson City Sheriff's Office responded about 9:20 a.m. to the robbery.
The suspect brandished a gun during the robbery. He is described as an adult black male about 5-feet 7-inches tall. He was wearing all black. He fled on foot.
The FBI is investigating.
Carson City School District spokesman Dan Davis said Pioneer Academy, located near the bank, was placed in a “secure” protocol, a directive to “get inside, lock outside doors and safeguard people within the building.”
This method differs from placing the school in a “lockdown” protocol, a situation in which individual rooms are secured and occupants are kept quiet and in place with lights off and locks out of sight.
