WNC’s ACCEL Program honors HSE recipients, Honor Society inductees

More than 100 students were recognized by Western Nevada College's ACCEL adult education program during the 2022 High School Equivalency Celebration and National Adult Education Honors Society Induction ceremony.

WNC honored 32 High School Equivalency recipients from 2021-22, 32 HSE recipients from 2019-20 and 65 National Adult Honor Society inductees from 2020-22 during the celebration in Carson Nugget Hall on the Carson City campus.

“I am so proud of these high school equivalency recipients and honor society inductees,” said Angela Andrade-Holt, Director and HSE Chief Examiner of the ACCEL College and Career Readiness program at WNC. “I am fortunate to work with these students, and this program, every single day. I get to witness the amazing things that happen in the classroom and beyond. Whether it be increasing fluency in English, obtaining the HSE or transitioning into college and the workforce, our students’ perseverance in reaching their individual goals is inspiring. All of this is possible thanks to my incredible team of staff and instructors who believe in the power of adult education to transform lives.”

Andrade-Holt provided welcoming and closing remarks, WNC Interim President J. Kyle Dalpe gave a celebration address, Senior Attorney Lance White of the Nevada Attorney General’s Office delivered the keynote address and Nancy Olsen of the Nevada Department of Education provided student recognition.

"I appreciate the families and friends of our students who champion their success and whose support makes their dreams possible,” Andrade-Holt said. “Thanks to all who contributed in some way. Now, each of these HSE recipients and honors society inductees is better prepared to pursue higher education or to move into the local workforce with the skills that are necessary for skilled jobs with greater earning potential. Congratulations! We are so proud of you!"
