Gov. Steve Sisolak has joined 13 other governors calling on Congress to expand and extend American Rescue Plan health benefit subsidies.
He said nine out of 10 Nevadans qualify for some sort of subsidy to reduce the monthly premiums they pay for health insurance through Nevada Health Link. Almost half can obtain a plan for $100 or less a month but if they aren’t extended, thousands of Nevadans will face significant increases in their premiums.
Sisolak said some would even see their premiums double if the subsidies expire as scheduled Nov. 1.
“It is critical to Nevadans that the ARP benefits are extended through the next plan year,” said Ryan High, director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.
He said in the most recent open enrollment, the exchange saw the largest enrollment in history thanks in large part to the subsidies that make plans more affordable.
