The Nevada Humane Society will waive adoption fees on all shelter animals at its Carson City and Reno shelters on Friday, July 22, according to a news release.
The NHS release said funding for the event is provided by Best Friends Animal Society.
“This is the perfect day for community members looking to add a pet to their family, to visit one of our shelters and meet their new Furry Soulmate,” the release said.
Citing economic conditions, the humane society reports it is seeing an increase in stray animals coming into the shelters and a decrease in adoptions, specifically large dogs.
“These unfortunate trends are leading to our shelters being very full,” the release said.
