The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is hosting the Sheriff’s Night Out at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Mills Park.
The event will feature state and local public safety organizations from the region.
This year marks the 19th consecutive year for the event that features an array of public help organizations that will have representatives on hand to provide guidance and information for the services that they provide.
Free hot dogs and drinks, hosted by the Elks Lodge, will be available.
Entertainment options for children are available at every booth, as well as free giveaways from the main stage area.
The event is hosted by Sheriff Ken Furlong and Fire Chief Sean Slamon.
“We invite everyone out to meet and greet the most fantastic men and women of fire and police services, as well as our military counterparts, service organizations, and non-profits giving a helping hand,” a press release from Furlong said.
“Sheriff’s Night Out was originally hosted in conjunction with National Night Out, a world-wide thrust to reduce crime,” Furlong said. “But in Carson City, we have taken the path that every organization, non-profit, and business associations in the community support the endeavors of the sheriff and fire chief, as well as many others. As we see disasters across the country, we always look to ways to prevent them from occurring here. And, as a response, Carson City’s coordinated efforts with everyone reaching out together to help one another is at the core of prevention.”
