From Yoda eating a pizza at Chicago Mike’s and the Minions celebrating birthday parties at the Ironwood Cinema, Murals and Windows by LoLo is capturing attention for businesses across Douglas County.

Carson City resident Lowri McGill paints murals, characters and messages for businesses in Douglas County, Carson City, Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas, usually right on the business’ windows.

“It’s a fun way to capture attention for the business,” said McGill.

She said businesses will usually give her a theme or a specific message they want displayed and then her creativity does the rest.

“I put all my love and attention into them,” she said.

Aside from window painting, LoLo Face Painting is an extension of her business where she does face painting for any occasion, including birthday parties, corporate events, festivals, cosplay makeup and celebrity face painting.

“Lowri is so amazing and talented,” said a face painting client on McGill’s website. “She has done 2 of my kids birthday parties and she has always been a joy to have around.”

McGill said painting has always been a passion and even obtained a degree in theatre production and scenic art, but the work she does is something she just “fell into.”

“I was invited to do a face painting event while I was attending Hollywood Makeup Academy and just fell in love with it, it was so much fun,” she said. “With the window paintings, I had just seen it done on businesses and thought it would fun to do, so I just asked some businesses if I could paint for them, and it just kind of took off from there.”

Originally from Wells, England, McGill moved to Nevada in 2012, after exploring the area and visiting a friend. She said she fell in love with the area and began pursuing her dreams.

“I am proud to be a woman, doing what I love full time,” she said. “I want people to know, especially women to follow their dreams even if you have kids or whatever might hold you back, you can follow your dreams.”
