Athletes will compete for $50,000 in prize money as the Rafter 3C Arena hosts the inaugural Battle Born Broncs on Wednesday.
Battle Born Broncs, which is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, will be the first event of its kind to be held in Nevada. Thirty bareback and 30 saddle bronc riders arrive in Fallon to compete on the best broncs in rodeo.
The show begins at 7 p.m. with the grand entry tribute to military men and women along with appreciation for the rural community and western lifestyle.
Battle Born Broncs will air on the Cowboy Channel. The Cowboy Channel originally started its summer campaign promoting “100 Rodeos in 100 Days” in 2021 in Reno and, now, Battle Born Broncs is the first rodeo launching the 100 days for 2022.
The Western Market and food trucks will kick off the event as doors open at 4 p.m. General admission is $25 and admission for children aged 2-12 is $15, and under 2 are free. Buy tickets at https://battlebornbroncs.ticketspice.com/battlebornbroncs.
The Silver State’s first Xtreme Broncs event will coincide with a Rough Stock Rodeo Camp on Tuesday. Professional rodeo cowboys will be coaching introductory rough stock fundamentals to ages 7 and older from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The school staff consists of PRCA members — present and past contestants and top rodeo competitors. They will talk about rodeo safety, rules, equipment and animal welfare. Lunch will be provided and students can move through stations where they receive one-on-one help with the events in which they are most interested.
Battle Born Broncs event is envisioned by the organizers to be an annual event that will occur before the Reno Rodeo. The intent is to fill a gap in the PRCA schedule that will encourage maximum participation from both saddle bronc and bareback riders from all over the United States and Canada.
According to the latest report to the Churchill County commissioners, Battle Born Broncs is promoting rodeo by creating an annual event that has a positive economic impact on Fallon, Churchill County, the state and small businesses located within the area.
Battle Born Broncs will also provide professional athletes with another opportunity to earn funds to advance to the NRF (National Rodeo Finals). The prize money won at next week’s event counts toward the PRCA world standings and 2022 NFR qualifications.
Organizers told commissioners the intent is to have Born Broncs become better every year.
“Because of great relationships with members of the PRCA and the Cowboy Channel, and with members of our own community here in Churchill County, we expect this to be the start of a long-lasting successful event that will allow is to give back and provide increasing positive economic impact for years to come,” the commissioners were told.
Churchill County also approved a request for $8,300 — $3,800 for sound that has not yet been installed at the Rafter 3C Arena, and $4,500 that will provide commercial video by the Cowboy Channel to promote the arena.
