Carson High has hired a new head coach for the boys basketball program. Tyler Golden will take over a little less than three weeks after previous coach, Jordan Glover, resigned from the helm of the program. Golden was the junior varsity head coach under Glover on last season and assisted the varsity team that ended the season 10-15 overall and with a 5-11 record in league play. “Tyler brings a new direction to our program that we are very excited about. He is an experienced young coach having served in several coaching and athletic department roles at the high school and college level,” said Carson High athletic director, Blair Roman, in a statement. “His mission is to produce competitive basketball teams at Carson High School, through a grounded philosophy that is clear, well-rounded, and centered on athlete development on and off the court. We look forward to supporting him as he leads our program into the future.” Roman’s statement continued to say that Golden will be quickly implementing summer workouts and open gyms to get ready for the 2022-23 season. “It’s got to be fast to try and get everything together. We will be putting together a staff and we will have open gyms to get to know everybody,” said Golden. He added that he is currently finalizing plans for a summer camp. Golden’s background Outside of his year on the Senators’ bench, the newest Carson High head coach has a plethora of experience at the college level. Over the last several years Golden has spent time as a manager and scout team player for the BYU men’s basketball team. He also served as a film coordinator for the Utah Valley University women’s squad. Golden graduated with a master’s MBA/MSA dual degree in business and sports administration from Ohio University in 2020. “I’m really excited and really grateful for the opportunity. It’s been really great over the past year to get to know the kids,” said Golden. “I’ve been impressed with their work ethic.” Golden’s wife, Sam, was recently hired as the athletic secretary at Carson High.
