About 9 o’clock yesterday morning the section boss east of Carlin had some trouble with his Chinese laborers and finally struck one of the gangs on the head with a piece of iron, inflicting injuries that will probably prove fatal. It appears that the men were sullen, and the boss deemed it necessary to go for them in the liveliest manner. One of the hands sustained injuries.

Jack Marshall, the coyote-killer, came to town today and turned over to the County Clerk fifteen coyote scalps, the result of four days trapping. Mr. Marshall has cashed about 750 coyote scalps, thereby increasing his wealth by $1,500.

How many were engaged in this tremendous killing, and how long it took to catch them all, we do not know — didn’t stop to ask, in fact. The average was seven inches in length.

Hank Monk on the box. Yesterday was the first time this season that Hank Monk took a stagecoach to the lake. We learn that he will henceforth drive regularly for the edification of tourists. Although Hank was quite sick during the whole of last winter, he has not lost his faculty of “stuffing” over-inquisitive travelers.
