The Berger Family Trust donated a state-of-the-art pursuit edition vehicle to Carson City Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit.
This new vehicle was assigned to senior handler and K-9 trainer, Deputy Jeff Pullen, along with his K9 partner Blue.
Along with standard police fitment, the vehicle possesses advanced equipment. It has a standardized interior K-9 insert, designed to protect K-9 Blue against collisions and other impacts, while keeping him comfortable.
It also has a contemporary heat alarm system which ensures Blue is safe from heat exhaustion and fire, as the system will automatically cool the car or even open the doors for Blue to escape.
The vehicle also has an upgraded suspension, which increases safety during emergency vehicle operations. It also has enhanced interior and exterior lighting to illuminate scenes for K-9 deployment, and infrared projection and night vision, allowing officers to see in the dark while staying concealed when needed. Lastly, the body has been enhanced as well, with a contoured brush guard and armored side panels.
The CCSO K-9 unit has long benefited from the vast generosity of the community.
“We thank you all for your continued support, and we thank the very thoughtful Berger Family Trust for their immense contribution toward the furtherance of our continual mission to safeguard Carson City and its residents,” a press release said.
