Capt. Adam Gardner, the former supply and equipment officer for the 757th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion and past commander of the 150th Maintenance Company, is the new commander of Carson City’s largest unit, the Joint Force Headquarters, following a change of command Saturday.
Gardner succeeded Maj. Gregory Krupp, who had been the unit’s commander since 2019. Krupp’s next assignment will be at the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Virginia.
Joint Force Headquarters has more than 180 soldiers in its ranks. Its primary mission is to provide personnel, administrative, logistical and training support to the state’s 3,300 National Guard soldiers, especially those set to deploy.
Gardner, 40, was born in Santa Maria, California, and enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2009. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and completed Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Gardner served three years as an enlisted motor transport operator before graduating from Officer Candidate School in 2012 and the Captains Career Course in 2018.
During his career, Gardner also served as a platoon leader and executive officer of the 593rd Transportation Company and as the 17th Sustainment Brigade Supply and Services branch chief.
Gardner is married to Christina Gardner and they have two children, son Casin and daughter Aveya.
Army Guard Chief of Staff Col. John Krueger presided over the change of command ceremony.
