Harley-Davidson donates $40,000 to Carson schools

Eaglemark Savings Bank and Harley Davidson Financial Services on Tuesday provided a donation of $40,000 to Carson City School District’s McKinney-Vento Students in Transition Program to support housing needs, Wi-Fi, supplemental transportation costs and other materials as needed for unaccompanied students through graduation.
Christie Perkins, special project coordinator and director of the McKinney-Vento program, said two students are housed in the local nonprofit Spirit of Hope’s housing.
Nelia Anisio, senior regulatory compliance analyst for Eaglemark Savings Bank, a subsidiary of Harley Davidson Financial Services, and Amber Kellner, board director for Eaglemark Savings Bank and lead consumer credit officer for Harley Davidson, delivered the check at the district’s school board meeting Tuesday. Anisio and Kellner also are members of Harley Davidson’s community reinvestment committee.
“We are immensely grateful for this generous donation,” Perkins said. “This funding will be utilized to its fullest extent for the benefit of this needful student population.”
As part of the donation, $28,000 was specifically earmarked for student housing needs. The total $40,000 contribution was part of the organization’s community reinvestment program.
Trustee Mike Walker said Harley Davidson is a generous donor and thanked it and Eaglemark for the contribution.
“I want to recognize all you’re doing for the kids,” Walker said.
“I can’t think of a better use for the money,” board president Richard Varner said.
