Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., filed for re-election Monday touting her support for pandemic relief that has helped rescue the state’s economy and the thousands of good jobs that will be created by the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
“This campaign is about one thing: the people of Nevada,” she said at the IBEW local 401 headquarters in Reno after filing at the Secretary of State’s office in Carson City.
“Today we are in a stronger position than we have been in years.”
She said her focus is creating more jobs, lowering costs and keeping Nevadans safe.
“Nevada is my home and I will always do what’s right for this state,” she said.
“Catherine grew up in a union family and has always understood the transformative power of union jobs,” said Rob Benner of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Northern Nevada.
He was joined by Todd Ingalsbee, president of the Professional Firefighters of Nevada, who said Cortez Masto works with them throughout the year to make sure they have the funding they need. He said firefighters have no greater advocate than Cortez Masto.
Cortez Masto served two four-year terms as Nevada attorney general before running for the Senate.
She is facing, among other candidates, Adam Laxalt who succeeded her as AG. Laxalt has Donald Trump’s endorsement.
