The state fire marshal and local authorities are investigating a Winnemucca structure fire that killed two men last week.
A spokesman said investigators were dispatched to an abandoned building in Winnemucca on Friday and discovered two adult males dead inside.
The Winnemucca Volunteer Fire Department, Winnemucca Police and Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to the scene.
Investigators said preliminary evidence points to a propane heater inside the building as the possible cause of the fire.
The fire marshal’s office urges people to ensure they are using fire-safe heating appliances and that smoke detectors are working correctly.
The investigation is continuing.
