The Greenwave baseball and softball teams opened the season with a pair of crossover wins on the road.
Both teams play their home opener against Hug on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex. North Valleys comes to Fallon on a Saturday at 11 a.m.
Fresh off its improbable Northern 3A East championship, the Greenwave baseball team took care of Sparks, 7-2, on Friday and followed with a 17-0 win over Wooster on Saturday.
Against the Railroaders, Bryce Adams picked up the win on the hill, going three innings and allowing two unearned runs against three strikeouts. Francisco Tapia pitched four innings and struck out four while walking none.
Fallon got on the board first with a run in the second inning when Carter Paul scored Isaac Martinez, who singled, on a fielder’s choice.
Sparks, though, came back in the bottom half and took advantage of back-to-back errors with two outs. An outfield error on a ball hit to center led to two runs scoring before Adams picked off the runner at first for the final out.
Fallon returned the favor in the following inning, scoring four runs with two outs. With the bases loaded, Martinez singled to center, driving in Cooper Lee and Damien Towne. Brady Alves followed by a drive to center, which scored Baylor Sandberg to give Fallon a 5-2 lead. Tyler Austin’s groundout in the fourth and single in the sixth scored Fallon’s final two runs of the game.
Austin, Martinez, Lee and Alves each led Fallon with two hits.
Fallon scored in every inning against Wooster as the game ended after the fourth due to the mercy rule.
Alves led Fallon at the plate with two hits and two RBIs, while Sandberg doubled and drove in three. Thane Hatch drove in two, and Tim Spencer, James Kelsey and Austin each had an RBI.
Towne pitched three innings, striking out six, while Diaz threw one and struck out the side to pick up the win.

Reece Hutchings and Keller each had two hits.
A day after scoring a baker’s dozen, Fallon saw nine more cross the plate in the 19-run win over Wooster.
Vershum led the team with a three-hit effort that drove in three runs, including singles in the first and third innings. Bergman doubled in two runs in the opening inning to start the scoring, which peaked in the fourth inning when Fallon scored eight. After Keller and Tutue Ames walked, Kiley Wallace and Fillmore singled and Rochelle Premtice doubled.
Shayda Lofthouse picked up the win in the circle, allowing no earned runs on one hit in two innings. Prentice threw the final two innings.

The Bighorns are off until March 26 when they host Virginia City in their home opener.
In the 11-10 loss, Oasis Academy got on the board first with a five-run first inning and scored in every inning except the last two. After scoring a run in the fifth to lead 10-6, the Wolves came back with five in the bottom half to lead by one.
