Sonoma Park will be closed from Monday, March 28-Friday, April 22 for seasonal maintenance and repairs to renovate the turf, address irrigation issues, and repair deficiencies related to the irrigation system, according to a news release from the city.
City staff will be preforming much-needed turf rehabilitation throughout the park, the release said. Aerifying, overseeding, and fertilizing will be conducted to help turf recover and rejuvenate from heavy use. Staff will also be performing an irrigation audit (evaluation) to address issues and resolve any inefficiencies of the irrigation system.
Equipment will be used daily, and irrigation will be in use throughout the day, while staff fully evaluates the irrigation system and provides adequate water for seeds to germinate. For the safety of the staff and the public, the park must be closed for the duration of the work, as there is likely to be equipment on site, watering taking place during daytime hours, as well as exposed areas from digging and trenching needed for repairs.
