Shackles found: One of the guards of the state prison, Thomas Hamilton, started out on the hunt for prisoner chains. He found two sets on the knoll to the south of the prison and about a mile and a half therefrom.

Dangerous walk: An elderly lady tripped on one of the broken boards. A gentleman passing by helped her up. It was feared for a time that she was seriously injured. The city should rebuild the walk and see that the owners pay for it.
