The Churchill County School Board appointed at its last meeting Robert Wickware as the new principal of Churchill County Middle School.
Wickware will succeed Amy Word, who has decided to return to the classroom.
“Mr. Wickware has a range of classroom experience as a classroom teacher, dean and vice principal,” Superintendent Dr. Summer Stephens said in her recommendation. “He currently works with attendance, student discipline, our Modern Teacher and LCF work including the use of date-informed decisions as well as working in restorative practices and threat assessments.”
Six applicants applied for the administrative position. The committee recommended two candidates for interviews and Stephens selected a third candidate to interview.
The Fallon native graduated from Churchill County High School in 1999, and he also received a college baseball scholarship. He graduated with an education degree focused on social studies. Wickware’s first position was at the middle school where he taught geography and eighth-grade U.S. history.
After he earned his master’s degree in administration, he served as dean of students at Dayton’s Riverview Elementary School, a 50-minute commute from Fallon. In 2016, he was named the CCMS vice-principal when the position opened.
