Friends In Service Helping on North Carson Street was burglarized Friday night after 10 p.m.
Executive Director Jim Peckham said someone entered FISH’s Carson City offices through a window and rifled drawers and rooms, apparently looking for cash and valuables. The burglar triggered an alarm in the food warehouse and broke a door to escape.
Peckham said that the damages and stolen goods are valued between $800 to $1,000.
Among items taken were auction donations for FISH’s upcoming 2022 Celebrity Waiter Fundraiser on May 21. The event is meant to raise money for a revitalization project.

FISH is demolishing the Whistle Stop Inn on North Carson Street to replace it with housing for participants in their workforce development program, Fast Forward 4 Families.
Peckham said that the burglary has been especially frustrating because, as a nonprofit, FISH offers free resources to individuals and supports community good.
“People ask us for something – (if) it’s (a) need, we’ll give it to them,” he said.
He hopes that FISH can gather donations to quickly mitigate the losses.
“Anything the people or the public can contribute, we certainly appreciate,” he said.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating the break-in and burglary.
