The Lady Bighorns softball team defeated Silver Sage Academy/ROP, 20-10, on April 26 in Fallon.
Oasis Academy, which picked up a pair of forfeits over Whittell and extended its win streak to seven, hosted Smith Valley on Tuesday for Senior Day. The 1A regional tournament is next week at Wells.
The Bighorns opened with nine runs in the first inning of their win over the Rams before the visitors came back with 10 runs in the final three innings.
Seniors Kaitlyn Hert and Rachel Bake, junior Madison Darst and freshman Taylynn Maynez each had two hits. Bake and sophomore Eneyde Rios led the team in RBIs with three each. Kisten Detomasi tripled and Darst hit a home run.
Detomasi pitched all six innings, striking out 10 but giving up 14 walks.
Fallon golf ends regular season this week
The Greenwave boys golf team finishes its season this week with a pair of tournaments at Lake Tahoe.
Fallon competed in Elko County last week, finishing seventh at Spring Creek and sixth at Elko. Truckee won both tournaments. Fallon sits sixth in the team standings with a score average of 402.8 strokes and 24 points. Truckee leads the pack with an average of 346 and 61 points.
There’s no regional tournament so the top three teams (Truckee, Fernley and Elko) advance to state along with the top-five golfers outside of those teams. Ron Lee and Owen Palmer are on the outside with the fifth-best mark average at 92.4. Lee’s averaging 96.4 followed by Palmer at 101.4.
At Spring Creek, Palmer led Fallon with a 96, followed by Lee with a 104. Colton Tousignant, Drake Reid and Daniel Lords each shot a 108 followed by Lucas Durfee with a 114.
At Elko, Lee had the team’s best score with a 94 followed by Tousignant at a 99. Palmer shot a 105 followed by Lords, 108; Durfee, 111; and Reid, 114.
Oasis Academy LAX wins 2nd game
The Lady Bighorns lacrosse team won its second game of the season April 27. Oasis Academy defeated Reno from the 5A, 5-4, in overtime at the county regional park.
Oasis Academy traveled to Truckee this week before hosting Senior Day against Manogue on Wednesday. The Bighorns visit Damonte Ranch on May 10 before ending the season on May 12 in Fallon against Spanish Springs.
