Thomas Ranson/LVN Fallon’s Madeline Stephens finished second in the discus and third in the shot put to qualify for this week’s state meet. Fallon freshman James Sorensen finished second in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdle events to qualify for state. Fallon will send several to this week’s state track and field meet after the Lady Wave finished third in the 3A Northern region. The boys finished eighth at the two-day regional meet at Reed High School. The state meet is Friday and Saturday at Reed. Senior McCartney McAlexander qualified in all four events, including winning the shot put and high jump. She won the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 8 inches, and the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 2 inches. McAlexander finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.72 and fourth in the 800 in 2:29.85. Senior Madeline Stephens captured second in the discus with a throw of 103-4 before finishing third in the shot put with a throw of 34-5.75. Senior Michaela Pursley finished third in the pole vault with a leap of 8-6.

Senior and distance runner Savanna Regli punched her ticket in the 3200, finishing fourth in 13:11.62. She took sixth in the 1600 in 5:58.83.Sophomore Jessalyn Lewis took second in both the long and triple jumps with marks of 16-3.50 and 34-3. The relay teams came up short of qualifying with the 4x200 team of Zoey Jarrett, Rachel Mori, Brienna McArthur and Lewis finishing fifth in 1:56.95. The 4x100 team of the same runners finished sixth in 54.63, while the 4x400 team of Zoey Brown, Ruth Casillas Ibarra, Mori and Jarrett finished seventh in 4:39. For the boys, freshman James Sorensen finished second in both the 110 and 300 hurdles, finishing in 16.68 and 43.18. Sophomore Kanigh Snyder leaped 40-10 to finish third in the triple jump. The 4x200 relay team of Snyder, Luke Sorensen, Caleb Proffen and Ethan Tarner finished third in 1:35.46. The 4x800 team of Edwin Ugalde, Garrett Rasmussen, Yahir Ugalde and William Brim-Klein missed out after finishing fifth in 9:20.92. Luke Sorensen, needing to clear 12 feet just minutes after the 4x200 relay, fell short and finished fifth at 11-6. Proffen finished seventh in the 200 in 23.99 and Max McCoy finished eighth in the 100 in 12.12.
