The Greenwave boys swim team came back from Las Vegas with some hardware on Saturday.
Senior James Cosman finished fourth in his two individual events and the 200 free relay team also finished fourth, capping a successful weekend for Fallon as it medaled in all events. Fallon finished eighth with 20 points at the 3A state meet at UNLV.
Cosman swam the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 9.95 seconds in the seeding race before finishing fourth in the finals with a time of 2:10.52. Cosman swam a 5:03 in the 500 free seeding race before recording a 5:05.09.
The relay team of Zachary Koenig, Macray O’Neill, Ruis Ramirez and Cosman cut their time by more than a second. They swam the seeding race in 1:43.81 before finishing with a 1:42.01 in the final.
Halloran finishes 5th at state golf
Oasis Academy senior Trevor Halloran finished fifth in last week’s 2A state golf tournament at the Chimera Golf Club, a par-72 course in Henderson.
Halloran sat tied for first after the first day of action, recording a 72. The second day, though, saw the senior fall back by 11 strokes as he finished with an 83 for a two-day score of 155. The winner was Sierra Lutheran’s Brock Walters, who carded a 72 and 70 for a 142 total. The next five, though, were separated by two strokes with a tie for second at 153 and North Tahoe’s Jaxen Perryman finishing fourth at 154.
As a team, Oasis Academy, competing in its first boys state championship, finished last in the six-team field with a combined score of 825. Like Halloran, the team fared well on the first day with a 402 that put the Bighorns in fifth.
Senior Connor Oceguera posted scores of 99 and 114 to finish 35th, while Fenn Mackedon improved from a 115 on the first day to a 107. Tyler Siebecker shot 116 and 119, and Andrew Catlin improved from a 123 to 119.
