Nevada State Sen. Chris Brooks on Thursday announced he will resign from the Legislature at the end of this year.
Brooks, a Democrat from Las Vegas, said he will pursue a business opportunity in the renewable energy industry. That is the same industry where he worked for the past three decades. He said he is returning to what has been his life’s work building a clean energy future in Nevada.
Brooks, 50, is currently chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and currently is chairing the Interim Finance Committee.
He was first elected to the Assembly in 2016 and won a second term in 2018. He was appointed to the Senate in 2018 and elected to a full term in District 3 in 2020.
He has over 30 years of experience in the construction, energy and utility industries. Some 20 years ago he started one of the nation’s first solar electric companies in Southern Nevada.
