Nevada’s U.S. Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen announced the American Battery Technology Co., in Reno has been awarded a $9.99 million federal grant from the Department of Energy.

Cortez Masto said the money will support recycling and reuse of batteries that are critical to the state’s booming innovation economy.

Rosen said working toward clean energy, Nevada can lead the way by bolstering domestic energy manufacturing.

The money was part of the bipartisan infrastructure law and is designed to advance electric vehicle battery manufacturing and recycling in Nevada.

That same law has provided Nevada companies more than $107 million to support the sustainable critical mineral supply chain.
