Ogres-Holm Pottery is hosting a sgraffito method workshop on Friday, Oct. 14 at the studio in the Carson City Mall.
The workshop will take place from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and costs $85 per person. No prior pottery experience is necessary.
The sgraffito method is an 18th century Italian pottery technique that consists of applying layers of color to pottery and scratching off parts of the layers to create a one-of-a-kind dish with contrasting layers revealing the clay underneath.
Ogres-Holm will provide bowls premade and ready to go along with instructions on the sgraffito method. It will be up to participants to let their imaginations run wild and create unique bowls. After firing, participants will be invited to return and collect finished pieces.
