The Lyon County Commission approved a conditional use permit that would allow the Silver Springs-Stagecoach Hospital District to install a commercial coach and expand its Lahontan Medical Complex space at 3595 W. Highway 50 in Silver Springs.
The actual site is 6.5 acres with the development less than 3 acres in size.
The Lahontan Medical Complex consists of two buildings, one built in 1992 measuring 7,094 square feet and the other in 2005 and is used as an office and clinic. The expansion would be located southwest of both structures approximately 100 feet from the existing office building and 90 feet from the medical and dental building.
The commercial coach, which is 60 feet by 24 feet, or 1,440 square feet, would give medical service providers Rural Nevada Counseling additional office space at the complex, according to staff reports.
A commercial coach is a manufactured building, not metal.
The conditional use permit is required since the existence of the hospital predates the county’s development code.
The Lyon County Planning Commission recommended the project for approval in a 7-0 vote on Sept. 13.
Senior planner Louis Cariola said the project itself is not considered contentious and its proposed use would not generate traffic that could not be accommodated by existing roadway infrastructure.
The motion was approved 5-0.
