BEFORE THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF NEVADA
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AUTHORITY TO ESTABLISH GAS INFRASTRUCTURE
REPLACEMENT RATES AND NOTICE OF PREHEARING CONFERENCE
On September 27, 2022, Southwest Gas Corporation (“SWG”) filed with the Public Utilities
Commission of Nevada (“Commission”) an application, designated as Docket No. 22-09024
(“Application”), for authority to recover costs of gas infrastructure replacement (“GIR”) projects
through the GIR mechanism.
SWG filed the Application pursuant to the Nevada Revised Statutes (“NRS”) and the Nevada
Administrative Code (“NAC”), Chapters 703 and 704, including, but not limited to, NAC 704.796 to
704.7985.
In the Application SWG states that the proposed GIR rates are based on the cumulative deferrals
through August 31, 2022, which consist of the revenue requirement associated with the GIR
projects approved by the Commission in the 2017 and 2018 the GIR Advance Applications in
Docket Nos. 17-05027 and 18-06004. SWG states that the Application is requesting authority to
establish GIR Rates for SWG’s Southern Nevada and Northern Nevada rate jurisdictions in the
amount of $0.00038 per therm and $(0.00018) per therm, respectively. SWG states that these GIR
rates would be applicable to all customers and rate classes except for transportation customers
with a contract for special service with SWG. SWG’s GIR Rate Application seeks authorization for
the GIR Rates to be effective on January 1, 2023.
