Why are you running?

I am running because I believe we need to address the core problems facing every day Nevadans. My top issues include; housing, healthcare and education. I am a firm believer that in order to build better communities, we must ensure that all Nevadans have access to quality healthcare and education. I have a solutions-oriented platform which specifically addresses each of these concerns with a focus on working class Nevadans.

Briefly describe the core duties of the position you are running for

The responsibility of a state senator is to author, sponsor, co-sponsor and vote on legislation that could potentially become law for the State of Nevada. A senator must represent all people within their senate district and be mindful that each legislation they work on affects all Nevadans.

A brief statement about your platform

My platform is a solutions-oriented platformed that is centered around common, every-day Nevadans. I believe that in order to have a robust and healthy society, all people need to have a seat at the table. For years now, access to housing within Nevada has been growing increasingly out of reach. Costs have sky-rocketed and in many cases, this is leading life-long and even multi-generational Nevadans to be forced to relocate or lose their homes. This is unacceptable. I plan to work to reduce costs for both renters and home buyers. Nevada’s education system has been ranked near the bottom of every list for too long now. In order to change this, we need to do two crucial things: Increase pay for not only teachers, but all faculty as well and then reduce class sizes for k-12 for those classrooms that are higher than 20 students. This would lift the burden off our teachers and increase learning for our students. Finally, healthcare needs to become fully accessible for all Nevadans. Living in a pos-pandemic world, it makes no sense to not work towards preventative measures within our healthcare industry and providing quality health insurance for all Nevadans.

What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?

Along with being active and involved both politically and within our communities, I am a working-class Nevadan who understands what it’s like to both struggle and succeed. I face the very same issues most of us face each and every day. I have a professional background in finance and accounting so I do understand how a budget works and I also understand how restrictive our state’s budget is. I have a unique understanding of our political system as well as an ability to work with people of all backgrounds in order to get something beneficial accomplished for the people.
