As temperatures remain in the high 90s, wildfire smoke is going to sock in Carson City over the next few days.

According to AirNow.gov, Carson City's air quality is "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" and likely to remain there through Friday.

The main cause of smoke is from the Mosquito Fire burning in the OxBox Reservoir east of Forest Hill in Placer County, Calif.

Smoke is seen looking West from North Carson City on Wednesday night.

The fire is more than 5,700 acres and 0 percent contained. The fire was first reported 6:27 p.m. Tuesday. No cause has been reported for the fire, though thunderstorms rumbled through the region on Tuesday afternoon. It is threatening more than 1,000 structures, according to CalFire.

"Potentially heavy smoke coming in later today from the Mosquito Fire. Models are currently unpredictable about when and where impacts may occur," AirNow.gov wrote about the forecast for smoke.
